DL-Alpha-Tocopheryl-Acetate
C29H5002
Not found in biologically active systems like food, but produced synthetically from petroleum in a
laboratory, dl-alpha tocopheryl-acetate is biologically unprecedented and may have adverse side
effects.  New research demonstrates that  taking only 1 member of the E family, which includes 4
tocopherols (alpha, beta, gamma, delta tocopherols) and 4 tocotrienols (alpha, beta, delta, gamma
tocotrienols), may cause a deficiency of the other members. It is believed that the ingestion of
dl-alpha tocopheryl in isolation may cause a deficiency of the heart-protective form known as
gamma tocopheryl, hence iadversely effecting the functioning of the heart.
